Italian Hot Chocolate

Raise your hand if you like hot chocolate…

Raise two hands if you like decadent Italian hot chocolate!

I am jumping up and down while waving two hands in case you were wondering! This hot chocolate is seriously the best. Maybe even the world’s best if I may. Ever since I went to Italy last February, I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect Italian hot chocolate recipe. I finally came across it today while browsing through a cookbook at World Market. This is so thick that you will definitly need a spoon to eat it. Make up a batch of this tonight and share it with someone you love or take it to someone who needs something sweet to brighten their day.

Because all good things need to be shared. Cheers!

Recipe from “Hot Chocolate” Recipe Book by Hannah Miles available here

2 teaspoons cornstarch (I actually added a little bit more to make mine extra thick).

3/4 milk

3 1/2 oz. semi sweet chocolate

3.4 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon confectioners sugar

  1. Mix the cornstarch will 2 tablespoons of milk and stir until the mixture has no lumps. Set aside.
  2. Add the chocolate pieces, remaining milk, and cream into a saucepan and stir until the chocolate has melted.
  3. Add in the cornstarch starch mixture and confectioners sugar. Stir until the chocolate begins to thicken. This may take about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour the mixture into two cups and top with marshmallows, whipped cream, or cinnamon. Enjoy!

  • Cakespy - The more hot chocolate resembles a slightly melted candy bar in terms of thickness–to me, the better. This looks like an ideal specimen.ReplyCancel
