Carrara Marble

If you were to take a tour of my house, you would know that I am obsessed with the light and airy look just based on the finishes I have chosen. My house is in need of so many design updates that it feels a little overwhelming at times.  I decided to start with retiling my fireplace because it would probably be fairly inexpensive and also make a big difference in the overall feel of my living room. When I first started pricing the carrara marble, it was about $20-30 a square foot. Needless to say that was out of my budget.  One day I was at Home Depot and I came across the Jeffrey Court line. At $6.98 a square foot, it made both me and my checking account happy! If you decide to go with this tile, I do have one piece of advice. Because it is a marble the design of the stone varies from piece to piece. I found that some of the pieces were practically white with no gray at all. That may not bother some of you, but I really wanted my tile to have a nice mix of gray and white. To make sure I achieved the look I wanted, I purchased way more tile than necessary in order to hand pick the pieces I wanted. Once the job was finished, I just returned the extra tile to Home Depot. I love that they allowed me to do it.  I am so happy with how this project turned out. It is exactly what I hoped for!
